Rachel Mercik Arrives in Argentina

RM ArgentinaBuenos Aires, Argentina -- Rachel Mercik (far left, top row) of the Boca Jrs 90 girls team arrived in Buenos Aires early in the morning on December 8th to join the U17 National Team. The team had a light training the first day and had a chance to adjust to the time change (five hours for Rachel).  The trainings are being held at a local soccer stadium (there are many there).  The experience of practicing and playing in a real stadium where professional soccer is played has been awesome for Rachel. The team played their first of three games yesterday against the Argentina U17's. The US came up short with a 2-1 loss but put in a great effort.  RM friends

Rachel subbed in the second half in left back and mid-field and felt she had a great game.  "When I first got to Argentina I was really nervous, you never know what to expect playing up like this. I knew the girls would be great players. With each training I gained my confidence and felt like I really fit in. The girls have been very nice and I am having a great time. Playing my first international match was amazing and I can't wait for the next games this week."
