Boca Jrs 90 Girls Sweep SYL Over Weekend

Concord, CA -- Nine goals in two games allowed the Capital Athletic Boca Jrs 90 girls to defeat the Mustang Soccer Club and Diablo Valley Soccer Club over the weekend in Super Y League competition.On Saturday in Danville Boca defeated Mustang 3-1. Boca took a 1-0 lead in the match when Brynne Konkel slipped a pass to Brianna Scales who finished the opportunity. Mustang tied the game later in the first half putting away the rebound on a tremendous save by goalkeeper Millie Brown.
In the second half Boca took the lead. This time it was Scales assisting to Konkel in the 53rd minute of the match. Twenty minutes later Konkel struck again when midfielder Brittani Lum sailed a corner kick to the back post and Konkel converted on a header.
On Sunday Boca beat DVSC 6-3. Capital Athletic trailed the game 2-0. DVSC took two shots in the first half and scored both despite Boca dominating the match. However, seconds before half-time left back Brooke Harrison made a run down the flank and crossed a perfect ball to Konkel who headed it in to cut the lead to 2-1.
Six minutes into the second half forward Elle Porter hit a bending ball to the back post which forward Kelsey Costan ran onto and slammed home to tie the match. Less than two minutes later Laura Nasseri and Konkel combined with Harrison who dribble four players and tucked away the ball to give Boca a 3-2 lead. Konkel had two more goals both unassisted, for a total of six on the weekend, to give Boca the win. Nasseri converted her second assist of the game when she connected with Costan for the sixth goal of the match in the 69th minute.
Next Boca Jrs 90 will travel to Boise, Idaho for the US Club Region G Championships starting July 1st.
