Boca Jrs 95 Boys Impressive in the Lake Oswego Nike Cup
Lake Oswego, Oregon -- With a backdrop of record-breaking heat for the area, the Boca Jrs 95 boys tied the EMFC Gunners in game one with a second-half goal by Eric Tassev. Saturday morning saw slightly cooler temperatures but a much hotter Boca team. The Bocas scored 6 goals in the game, including four goals in the first half by Eric Tassev, Yotzin Castrejon, Cole Davey and Alex Van Dyke. WUSC Juventus played a tougher second-half, but the Bocas answered twice more. Amar Bassi kicked a solid ball directly into the goal; Brandon Woo scored on a cross by Steven Pye. Final score: 6-2.
The Boca intensity rose as did the mercury. Playing against the Bridlemile Bandits in game three, the Bocas scored four goals in the first half and Yotzin Castrejon played his best game, scoring three goals. Alex Van Dyke scored again before the break, then Raemon Gill piled on the fifth goal in the second half. Final score: 5-0. The boys lost in the semi-final to Elk Grove, 2-0, but played solid defense throughout, holding their opponents to a zero score until mid-way through the second half. Goalkeepers Sam Keil and Alex Leyva played admirably all three days.
The U11 Boca Jrs 95 Boys are coached by Antonio Sutton of the California Cougars.
Way to Go Boca!!!!
