Rachel Mercik Arrives in Argentina
Buenos Aires, Argentina -- Rachel Mercik (far left, top row) of the Boca Jrs 90 girls team arrived in Buenos Aires early in the morning on December 8th to join the U17 National Team. The team had a light training the first day and had a chance to adjust to the time change (five hours for Rachel). The trainings are being held at a local soccer stadium (there are many there). The experience of practicing and playing in a real stadium where professional soccer is played has been awesome for Rachel. The team played their first of three games yesterday against the Argentina U17's. The US came up short with a 2-1 loss but put in a great effort.

Boca Jrs 89 Player Brandi Vega One Step Away from National Team
(From the NEVADA APPEAL on 8/11/07 by Mike Houser.)
For the last two years, junior Brandi Vega has been showing Carson High School devotees why she's been named to the All-Sierra League team as a point guard in basketball and the Sierra League Offensive Player of the Year for the league-champion Senators' soccer team.
Whether it's on the court or on the pitch, the 5-foot-3 Vega has been an electric presence, the kind of difference maker that catches a spectator's eye and leaves her flustered opponents in the dust.
The 16-year-old Vega recently took her game to Moscow, Idaho, where she was one of 120 girls to attend the 2007 United States Youth Soccer Region IV Olympic Development Program (ODP) camp.
Boca Jrs 90, Jennie Marshall - The Bee's 2007 Girls Soccer Player of the Year

Two weeks into the soccer season, Beyer High had already lost twice and it looked as if the Patriots were vulnerable following the loss of a strong senior class.
"A lot of good players graduated and about half our team was up from the JV," said forward Jennie Marshall, who just completed her junior season. "That confidence we had last year, it wasn't there because we were young."
It didn't take long for the Patriots to regain their mettle, as Marshall led them on a streak that didn't end until the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I semifinals.
