Boca Jrs 92 Girls Seek National Title

Soccer beat: Boca Juniors seek a national title in Florida

On their first try, the Boca Jrs 92 earned a chance at a national title.

"That's a big reason this is so exciting," coach Melissa Cavitt said as the team prepares for its trip to Florida. "It was the first time they were invited to play in league and their first opportunity to qualify, and they go all the way to nationals. I'm so proud of the girls."

The Boca Jrs 92 -- Capital Athletic Soccer Academy's under-14 girls team -- will compete in the Super Y-League North American Finals. The tournament is part of United Soccer Leagues' SoccerFest to be held Friday through Tuesday in Tampa.

Boca Jrs 92 Girls Finalists At Region G Championships

Boca 92Boise, ID -- The Capital Athletic Boca Jrs 92 girls reached the finals of the US Club Region G Championships before falling to DVSC 1-0.

Boca opened the weekend with a 2-0 win against the Boise Capitals.  The team followed up that win with a 5-0 victory over FC Crush.  They entered their final game in pool play against the Columbia Timbers needing a win to advance to the semi-finals.  A free kick by Hannah Keane from 25 yards out in the second half gave Boca a 1-0 advantage.  Mallory Creamer added two more goals before the end of the game to secure the 3-0 win.

In the semi-finals Boca took on local rival Capital Valley Rush.  After a hard-fought battle the game ended in a 0-0 tie and went to penalty kicks. Sara Martinez, Keane and Creamer converted their penalty kicks while goalkeeper Abby Williams made a number of saves for the win.

Katelynn Furtado Named Super Y League Player of the Week

Tampa, FL -- Capital Athletic Soccer Academy Boca Jrs 92 center midfielder Katelynn Furtado was named Super Y League Player of the Week today for her three goal effort last weekend against Juventus. Seven Boca Jrs Girls Named To State Pool

CYSARIPON, CA -- Seven girls from the Capital Athletic Soccer Academy were named to the 2006 Cal North State Pool in various age groups.

Goalkeeper Abby Williams and forward Chrystal Martinez were named to the Cal North '93 State Pool.  Defender Jen Ericson and midfielder Courtney Strombeck were named to the Cal North '92 State Pool.  Midfielder Rachel Mercik and defender Hannah Davidson were named to the Cal North '91 State Pool and left back Brooke Harrison was named to the Cal North '90 State Pool.

The girls will train with their State Pool throughout the Spring and early summer.
