U-16 GNT Opens Training Camp in Florida

The U.S. Under-16 Girlʼs National Team began training camp on Saturday (March 31) in Sunrise, Florida, as head coach Kazbek Tambi has brought 24 players for a week of training from April 1-7. Tambi is trying out several new players as he continues to form a pool from which he will choose a team that will attempt to qualify for the 2008 FIFA U-17 Womenʼs World Cup, to be held late next year in New Zealand. Twenty-one of the players in camp were born in 1991 with three being born in 1992 in defenders Mia Bruno and Megan Oyster and midfielder Alex Crown.


Four Boca Jrs 91 Girls Chosen for Super Y League National ODP Select Team

Boca 91Cocoa, Fl- Mallory Creamer, Jennifer Ericson, Rachel Mercik and Courtney Strombeck of Boca Jrs 91, have been chosen to play on the USL Super Y-League ODP (Olympic Development Program) National Select Team, after participating in tryouts the weekend of February 8-11 in Cocoa, FL. The best 140 girls born in 1991, 1992, and 1993 from all over North America participated in these tryouts.  Eighteen were chosen on Sunday, after a rigorous schedule of training on Thursday (after traveling all day) and 4 games a day on Friday and Saturday.  The top 30 were then chosen to play in an All-star game on Sunday morning, where the final 18 were chosen.

Mercik, who plays attacking midfield and forward, made the 1991, (U15) team.

Creamer, who plays forward, Ericson, who plays defense, and Strombeck, who plays midfield all made the1992, (U14) team.

Rachel Mercik Named to Region IV Pool

Rachel MercikMoscow, ID -- Capital Athletic Boca Jrs 91 forward Rachel Mercik was named to the Region IV ODP Pool today. She will be held over for another week and train with the Region team. The team is coached by Mike Smith and assisted by Lauren Orlandos and Joey Hoffman.

Boca Jrs 91 Girls Sweep Santa Rosa In SYL

Super Y LeagueSacramento, CA -- The Capital Athletic Soccer Academy faced off against Santa Rosa United on Sunday and came away with a three game sweep in Super Y League competition.

The day started off with the Boca Jrs 91 girls defeating Santa Rosa Gold 5-0. Boca struck nine minutes into the match when midfielder Danielle Lovato connected with forward Mallory Creamer. Less than five minutes later left back Nicole Wilson crossed a ball to forward Natalie Perez who slipped the ball past the SRU goalkeeper. Perez then assisted on a goal of her own to Timery Mueller and Creamer struck again before halftime. In the 43rd minute Lovato scored a goal of her own to give Boca a 5-0 advantage.

Boca Jrs 91 Girls are Champions!

Boca 91Livermore, CA -- The Capital Athletic Boca Jrs 91 girls defeated Marin FC 1-0 to win the CYSA U14 Girls State Championship Saturday at Robertson Park.  Forward Natalie Perez scored the game-winning goal with 12 minutes remaining in the match to give Boca the win.

The teams battled to a 0-0 tie at the half.  Boca controlled most of the possession in the first half and created numerous opportunities but was unable to convert.  In the second half the game evened out.  However, the back line of Alli Kelly, Alex Del Agua, Nikki Wilson, and Rachelle Rodman were strong the entire match.  The best opportunity for Marin FC came with 15 minutes remaining in the match when a forward broke through the back line.  However, goalkeeper Erin Rost came up with an amazing save to preserve the shutout.

Three Boca Jrs Teams Advance To State Cup Finals

State CupRipon, CA -- For the first time in club history three teams have advanced to the CYSA State Cup Finals. The Capital Athletic Boca Jrs 88 boys, 89 boys, and 91 girls will all play next weekend for a State Cup Championship.

The Boca Jrs 88 boys advanced by defeating Club America 8-1 on Saturday in the Sweet 16.  On Sunday they defeated Santa Rosa United Gold 3-0 in the Quarter-Finals and Mustang United 4-3 in the Semi-Finals.  The Boca Jrs 89 boys downed District 6 rival Placer United in the Sweet 16 2-1.  They then went on to defeat Modesto Ajax 3-1 in the Quarter-Finals and DVSC 2-1 in the Semi-Finals.

The Boca Jrs 91 girls took on SCA on Saturday and won 3-1.  Sunday morning they defeated Lamorinda United in penatly kicks.  In the afternoon the team beat Cal Odyssey 2-0 to earn a trip to the Finals.

Boca 91Lemoore, CA -- Despite wet and cold conditions the Capital Athletic Boca Jrs 91 girls took care of business in CYSA State Cup group play to advance to the Sweet 16.

Boca Jrs 90 & 91 Teams in "Soccer America"

Soccer AmericaThe Capital Athletic Boca Jrs 90 girls team and the Capital Athletic Boca Jrs 91 girls team both received mention in the latest edition of Soccer America.  The online magazine printed the results from all of the major youth soccer yournaments around the nation over the President's Day weekend.  The Boca Jrs 90 team won the U15 age group and the Boca Jrs 91team finished second in the U14 age group at the very prestigious President's DayTournament in Arizona.  PDT was one of eight tournaments mentioned in the article.  Capital Athletic was one of only two clubs with multiple girls teams in the finals.

Boca Js 91 Girls Finalist at President's Day Tournament

Boca 91PHOENIX, AZ -- The Capital Athletic Boca Jrs 91 girls finished second at the President's Day Tournament in Arizona this past weekend.  PDT is considered one of the top girls soccer tournaments in the country.

Boca Juniors opened the tournament on Saturday against the Iowa ODP State Team.  After a scoreless first half the team broke the game open with three goals to win 3-0.  Rachel Mercik scored the first goal on an assist from Lisa Corona. Mercik struck again on the second goal when she bent a corner kick directly into the net.  The final goal was scored by Timery Mueller on an assist from Mallory Creamer.
